Kid Cudi Wins VIBE Play-In Bracket

I was very curious to see who out of the up and comers would make it out of the Play-In bracket because to me it was a popularity contest in a way and should give us some type of idea at the popularity of these guys. To many peoples suprise, Cudder beat out Drake in the Semi’s and now Wale in the finals.

Asher Roth may have the college scene on lock. Wale may be on the brink of stardom thanks to his new Lady Gaga-assisted video for “Chillin’.” And Drake’s delivery may have him buzzing like the pizza man. But it’s Kanye West protégé Kid Cudi, who’s officially landed a slot in VIBE’s Best Rapper Ever tournament after beating out seven other next generation MCs in last week’s Play-In bracket. After defeating Charles Hamilton and Drake, respectively, in the first two rounds of the week long competition, Cudi bested Wale in the finals this weekend (1016 votes to the D.C. rapper’s 922 votes) to earn himself a shot at Eminem, the winner of last year’s The Best Rapper Alive, in this year’s The Best Rapper Ever tournament on VIBE.com, which officially launches today.

    Nice to see Cudi beat out everyone. I’m telling you, people are still sleeping on and underestimating him and I love it….he’s about to shock the world with the album. I just get that feeling.
