Kid Cudi Changes Upcoming Album Title

Taking to his blog, Cudi just announced that he’s changing the title to his next album. Previously slate dot be called “Cudder & The Revolution of Evolution” he’s now saying it will be called “Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager”.

i started making this project like a collab album, filled with fun and upbeat records that for the most part left you with jack shit when you were finished listening. i took a step back, went on tour, and realized im where im at because of the type of songs i write. every time i read a comment from someone saying ive touched their lives in some way is what made me want to stop fucking around and continue pouring my life into my music.  MOTM2 is dark by nature and instead of bringing you into my dreams like my first album, im bringing you into my reality.  good and bad. it will explain more of who iam aswell as pushing the envelope musically. this project will focus on many dark, fun, and ignorant moments in my life since ive been kid cudi in a exciting and cinematic nature continuing the MOTM theme.

For the rest of his thoughts on the title change and details on what the album will sound like and who hes working with head over to his blog. What’s everyone think of the new title and direction of the album?

yesss i’m so glad he’s going back to a MOTM theme! i was so afraid he would get trapped in the fun commercially stuff and not focus on the type of music that made us love him.

I’m not gonna lie but that’s sort’ve lame that he’s sticking with the same “dream” theme. Don’t get me wrong Cudi is my all-time favorie emcee dating back embrace the martian release on Crookers Mad Kidz EP back in 08 but who cares about that. The thing is MOTM I is unique and really set the stage for Cudi letting everyone know what he was capable of doing. We all know that now after embracing his debut album. I understand that it’s personal and shit but what about his first mixtape “A Kid Named Cudi”, that really was a true work of art and by far the best mixtape of 08. Even if it was more hip-hop oriented you still knew this dude was talented and gifted and ahhh the mixtape was just straight fire. The samples he chose on there were unbelievable (i.e., Chonkyfire or Wild), that alone shows you what sort of musical vision he had…”college dropout-esqe” if you say.

i love you cudi but i was really looking forward to listening to you spit that fire and see that classic “a kid named cudi” side of you. Loved MOTM and its dream but thats what makes it special, why would you want to emulate that?

Kid Cudi is my all time favorite artist and speaks more truth than any other one I know. So many rappers get caught up in the fame and forget why they began rapping then make songs like apple bottom jeans and boots with the fur which has a catchy beat but no meaning. Kid Cudi speaks from the heart. Leonardo da Vinci ounce
said, “For once you have tasted flight you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been and there you will long to return.” Cudi – you’ve tasted flight, now don’t forget what’s on the ground.
