Kid Cudi Changes Upcoming Album Title

Taking to his blog, Cudi just announced that he’s changing the title to his next album. Previously slate dot be called “Cudder & The Revolution of Evolution” he’s now saying it will be called “Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager”.

i started making this project like a collab album, filled with fun and upbeat records that for the most part left you with jack shit when you were finished listening. i took a step back, went on tour, and realized im where im at because of the type of songs i write. every time i read a comment from someone saying ive touched their lives in some way is what made me want to stop fucking around and continue pouring my life into my music.  MOTM2 is dark by nature and instead of bringing you into my dreams like my first album, im bringing you into my reality.  good and bad. it will explain more of who iam aswell as pushing the envelope musically. this project will focus on many dark, fun, and ignorant moments in my life since ive been kid cudi in a exciting and cinematic nature continuing the MOTM theme.

For the rest of his thoughts on the title change and details on what the album will sound like and who hes working with head over to his blog. What’s everyone think of the new title and direction of the album?

i was afraid with cudder that he was just guna pour out some club tracks that would have less depth as the man on the moon songs.

    I love you kid cudi!

  • jlhandy

Im extremely excited for this new direction… after reading the rest of the story on his blog, im supper pumped to here some new music similar to his old stuff, i’ve been playing A kid name cudi a lot more then the album recently so this is possibly the best kid cudi news ever for me…. I’dd really like to see a kid cudi and b.o.b. collab. it be super dope

  • Ross

What the fuck happened to Man on the Moon: The Ghost in the Machine?! “The machine and the ghost within, this is the story of the Man on the Moon”. WAY better title if you ask me. I kinda was hoping he would release cudder and then go back to Man on the Moon later. whatever new cudi hopefully in August sounds amazing to me!

  • monie

maybe if it was “MOTM: the legend of cudder” cuz “Mr.Rager” sounds like sum str8 stoned thinkin lol..oh well wutever as long as the music’s good i could care less about the title..

  • Zach

Wait what about the songs he already recorded for cudder??????

  • Ryan Fernandez

Let me just say that Scotty is prolly makin shit mainly for himself.. With fans in the middle ground of his mind. Let this dude do what thee fuuuck he want’s, it will be dope whatever he makes and will change life’s as the album progresses in your head :D

  • Jeff B

YESSSSSSSSS! This will be a way better sophmore album

  • Sean

I’m glad he’s not making it all club, and gay songs…Really glad. But I liked the old name better…Just me I guess.

  • DOSE OF DOPENESS

“cudder fact: me and dot are a production duo, our first creation is on the new album.”
DOSE OF DOPENESS, DOSE OF DOPENESS, DOSE OF DOPENESS………DOSE OF DOPENESS. ABOUT FUCKIN TIME!!!!!!

  • dustin

real glad youre gonna keep it real cudi. i was nervous with all your talk about focusing on your music career, when you are the john glenn of music. every jawnt you put out turns gold and hits me where im at. do you and pour it all out like MOTM 1. doooope name btw. MR RAGER

  • RickyTan01

damn this makes me so happy, i was worried that cudder was jus gonna be club tracks and shit which is tight for tapes but not albums especially for cudi, this post makes me that much more hyped for the next album

  • mark freaking rollins

to be honest i just want the fucking CD to come out. im gettin bored of the old shit. sitll good tho.

  • KiDD

Alright so part 2 it is. Glad to see you haven’t changed thats a good thing because some people try and change like people they see on TV glad your sticking to being original.

  • Nikki

LOL at his ass changing the title a billion times. That’s apart of the creative process. One minute your mind is set on this then the next it’s on something else. I dig it. Do I personally like the title? It’s cool. I didn’t like the first one though. This one I can agree with more though cause it fits into his theme more. Not saying the theme can change but ultimately this works for him. The MOTM theme works. I’m glad he’s continuing to be him. Nothing wrong with a club joint, or many but just do what you do, don’t force it.

  • James G.

what about “Man on the Moon: The Ghost in the Machine?” will that be changed to “Man on the Moon III?” and Man on the Moon II is dope, but im not sure about Mr. Rager

  • Luis

I was pumped to hear some upbeat clubbing songs, something i could rage to!! you know? this story is about mr. rager…let us rage with you! not depress me out….but i love you cudi so whatever you do i could care less as long as its dope :)

  • http://rollingtfilms.tumblr.com Tau

“Man on the moon:The legend of Mr.Rager” doesn’t sound like a dark album. It kind of sounds gay in my opinion. All the songs are going to be dope though, but I hope the snoop dog joint isn’t going to be on it cause it sounds wack.

  • http://jauntdesign.com Kevin

I can’t wait till August! I was fine with it being a summer release but not THAT late in the sumer!

  • http://www.hiphopsforum.com Chris Wallace

    First off…in response to Tau.

Calling his new title “gay” is not a valid judgement. If you dislike it, please come up with a better answer than that.

It wouldn’t shock me to see this change before August. I just don’t see “Mr. Rager” being anywhere on a shelf.

Not like it matters one bit on if I’ll buy it because that’s a no brainer.

    Peace & Love.

I think that since his ideas, thoughts, and changes in his mind have got him this far, he definatley knows best. i’m so excited for this album and i’m sure it’ll be REEAL dope!

if you are reading this Kid Cudi, then i want you to know that i LOVE your songs so much, and i’m very interested in knowing more about you in this new album. your deep songs are my favorite!! i’m so glad, and really appreciate how you spend so much time in to making your songs sound g.o.o.d. to the ear, and how they are g.o.o.d. for the heart and soul. i swear that no matter what situation i’m in, listening to your music makes everything better like instantly. i went to one of your recent concerts and cried when you came out and i cried during MOTM, and Cudi Zone! by the way i LOVED, absolutely LOVED that new joint you did that’s like, “i’m in the club groovin’ to myself, aint so stoppin’ what i feel” i really liked the sound. oh yeah, your voice is the most amazing sound i’ve ever heard in my life, especially at the concert you were just unbelieveable! you killed it man! and thanks to you i have decided to follow my dreams. thank you SOOO much. honestly you’re extra good. I LOVE YOU!!

p.s. i really liked How To Make It In America too lol

    rage, dreaaaam onnn!

  • Dukes

whatever he does will turn to gold. And the ones that don’t like the title now, will fall in love with it when they listen to the album. I’m sure not many people thought “Sgt. Pepper” sounded like a good idea at first…

  • michelle

either style of music would be amazing.
kid cudi has variety and versatility. i’m pretty sure he can do almost any type of music. <3333

  • Swingman from MIA

Man your music is beyond GREAT!!!! I really enjoy your artwork because this is true hip hop man. No need for speaking down about women or bragging about your money. Your music helps out tons of us and I am sure everyone appreciates your GREATNESS.. Your music helped me over come my depression when my fiance cheated on me. Your songs are uplifting and anyone would vouch for that.
Your recent song “know why” is my new anthem for your pass songs. “I’m whole completely complete, rainy days completely delete.” Keep up the good work because there arent others like you that rap real stories. Ps…I dont buy albums and the last one i bought before yours was Outkast…I like real ish not that commercial crap.
“Once had a lover but I had to leave her, my lifes much bigger….the plan I mean” =D.

  • dr0

i cant wait im feenin fo dis shyt already its gon be classic

  • trip

I’m so glad Cudi is going back to his roots and not going down the rap collaboration path. Those types of songs are awesome to party with but they’re a dime a dozen. Songs like Man on the Moon, The Prayer, Pursuit of Happiness could not have been written by anybody besides Kid Cudi and I think most people think those are his best because they’re so incredibly unique. I would love to hear the song ‘Dose of Dopeness; in CD quality because it’s awesome live on youtube through a camera phone, which is tough to do!
Also, new album title could be very cool if it’s going to end up being used as ironic and not literal. Cudi seems like that kind of guy who would make a title with a phrase like “Legend of Mr. Rager” and in a way mock the whole rage/party life style because he seems smarter than the rest of rappers and seems to really see things in a different perspective. Perhaps the herb? He did say this on 4/20…

  • http://twitter.com/ThiiaZ Thias

Yeeeah! I wanna hear some more real Cudi stuff, not club tracks. A couple club tracks is aight, but I prefer “the man on the moon”, lol. That’s why he’s my favorite, cuz he’s not like the others, he got his own sound/style and it’s so fucking awesome. Looking forward to this

  • B

your amazing & with everything you do.

  • Jonah

Have to agree with the first title, sounds alot more HOT , but as long as you put some heart Into your songs like your last few albums, then its all goood(: Keep it up Cud.

  • Tim

dang, i mean i thought the first title was gonna be dope. More like chill good songs like cudderisback and all that but im sure CuDi knows whats best

  • Alex

I really liked the name, Man On The Moon II: The Ghost in the Machine. I thought that was pretty dope.

Then I had to get use to Cudder and the Revolution of Evolution. But I really like that he listened to his fans and is going to include more songs about his life and life itself.

But I’m pretty sure it’ll be some groovin songs and deep songs so it sounds great to me. But choose the name Man On The Moon II: The Ghost in the Machine. Such a cool name for an album sounds epic!
