Everything You Need To Know About Kid Cudi’s INDICUD Album Part II

indicudpart2

We are that much closer to INDICUD’s release in April so today we bring you Part II, the follow up to our original “Everything You Need To Know About Indicud” post last year.

Things are becoming much more clear now and details that used to be rumours are now confirmed. We’ve rounded up everything including singles, music videos, videos, features, production and tons more into one post for you guys to digest. Share this with your friends, lets make sure the world knows Kid Cudi is releasing his next rap album.

With that said, here is everything you need to know about INDICUD right now.

Release Date

The most important question anyone might have. INDICUD’s release date is set for April 23rd, marking the release of Kid Cudi’s 4th studio album in 5 years. Every single album so far has been delayed* from its originally announced date but that all looks to change this time around. INDICUD will hit store shelves in less than 5 weeks, pre-orders will be available soon so stay tuned.

*We totally knocked on wood while typing this.

Tracklist

We know two very important things about INDICUD right now, one of them being that Kid Cudi will be releasing the tracklist to the album on April 2nd. The other? The album will consist of 18 songs! Cudi himself tweeted “who does that anymore?”, well he does and it should serve to be an insane collection of songs.

Album Cover

April 2nd should serve to be a great day for Kid Cudi fans everywhere. With Kid Cudi revealing the tracklisting and album cover for INDICUD that day, the frenzy for the albums release on April 2nd should be at an all time high with 20 days to go. One thing to note so far is the font selection for the Immortal single cover and the above SXSW promo banner. Both utilize the same font which likely will lead to it being used on the album cover as well.

Confirmed Features

I’m not sure where to even start but here we go. This is the current list of confirmed features for the album: Kendrick Lamar, RZA, Too $hort, Haim, Hit-Boy, Common, King Chip, A$AP Rocky, Michael Bolton*. Whoa. Is it possible there is even more features? Well….

Possible Features

With 9 artists already confirmed, and 18 songs on the album, we’re looking at almost half having a featured artist on the song. Not to be forgotten is the possibility of features from Kanye West, Pusha T, J. Cole, Jaden Smith and most importantly (at least to me) RATATAT. All of those names have been thrown out by Cudi in the past as people he has been in the studio with our someone who would be on the album. Lately? Not so much has been said about them but we will see soon enough.

Possible Tracklist

We like to have a bit of fun around here so here is our educated guess on a possible tracklist for the album. Keep in mind this is fake but with everything Cudi has discussed in interviews, twitter and more, we have a lot of knowledge to go off of.

1. Just What I Am (Featuring King Chip)
2. King Wizard
3. Immortal
4. Solo Dolo Part II (Featuring Kendrick Lamar)
5 .Untitled Song (Featuring RZA)
6. Untitled Song (Featuring Haim)
7. Pretty Girls (Featuring Too $hort)
8. Untilted Song (Featuring Common)
9. Vortex (Featuring Pusha T)
10. Untitled Song (Featuring RATATAT)
11. Mr. Digital
12. Unfuckwitable
13. Young Lady

King Wizard

All though King Wizard never served as an official single for the album, Cudi was so excited to release it he initially previewed it on YouTube before finally letting go the mp3 version a week later.

SXSW Verse

SXSW was a busy week for Cudi and with that came him spitting a new verse at his Myspace Secret Show last week. We call this angry Cudi flow, he’s not fucking around.

Pretty Girls Featuring Too $hort

Alright, since I know you guys are going to hit the comments and continue saying things like “why haven’t you posted this???” or “you forgot about this!!” let me set the record straight.

Yes, Kid Cudi previewed the song Pretty Girls featuring Too Short at a SXSW after party. Yes, someone filmed it and uploaded it online. No, we will not be posting the video. Why? It’s simple, out of respect for Cudi who asked it not be put on the site. You all know how to use google so use it.

Now where we’re we….

Album Production

Kid Cudi’s previous rap efforts all featured production from a handful of artists including long time friend and collaborator Dot Da Genius. This time around Cudi is taking things into his own hands having produced a large majority of the album himself. Guest production on INDICUD will include Dot Da Genius, 88-Keys and possibly RATATAT. With Cudi having already produced the first three songs from INDICUD, we have no doubt he can more than hold his own for this album.

Just What I Am (Music Video)

The first music video for INDICUD and Cudi’s directorial debut, Just What I Am was shot in LA with fans invited to participate in the video’s shoot. Cudder knows how to treat his fans right thats for sure.

King Wizard (Music Video)

Even though King Wizard wasn’t an official single, it was still put on iTunes and received the music video treatment. Once again the video was directed by Kid Cudi who took a simplistic approach to the visual while still framing it in a baroque frame.

Immortal (Live)

There is no music video for Immortal, yet at least, but this is so great we’re going to throw it in here just because. Kid Cudi finished his show at the BUKU Festival two weeks ago with an encore acapella performance of Immortal. The fan at the end was on point saying “that was epic as fuck”.

Complex Magazine Cover: Life After Death

Over the past 5 years Kid Cudi has been featured on the cover of Complex Magazine six times including the G.O.O.D. Music cover and the WZRD digital cover. This time around Cudi connects with Complex again to update us on his story and as usual it’s required reading for any fan.

Now that Kid Cudi is past the prescriptions, the therapy, and the breakup depression, he’s reborn. Demons still linger, but the rapper/producer got his mind right where it should be: in the music.

Billboard Interview

In what have now become rare interviews, Kid Cudi talked to Billboard earlier this month about about Immortal, producing his upcoming album, radio play and his no bullshit attitude about music and the industry.

It’s about standing for something. If you’re just about ballin’ and shit, you’re just falling for the fuckin’ money. That doesn’t make a man. You’ve got to stand for something and believe in something. I’m more than money. I’m way more than that. I’m way more powerful than the radio and all of that shit. It’s a lifestyle. I’m into motherfuckers’ lives, when they wake up and when they go to sleep.

If you want some insight into where he’s at right now and how this album is coming together you should definitely read the full interview.

Next Level

We’ll leave you with one last thought. This is what Cudi had to say to Billboard about the album:

It’s next level. Everything on this album is next level, man. It’s totally, like, the coldest shit. People are going to be like, “What are we doing wrong?” You’ve just got to bring the madness sometimes.

INDICUD. April 23, 2013.
