Jan. 15 - Complex Magazine Cover
Kid Cudi would grace the cover of Complex Magazine for the 6th time this year for their February/March 2013 for a story titled “Born to Die”.
Feb. 25 - “Up Up and Away” Featured in
Mountain Dew Commercial
Mountain Dew launched a new morning energy drink earlier this year and to promote the “Kickstart” drink they launched a series of commercials featuring “Up Up and Away” from Kid Cudi’s first album “Man on the Moon: The End of Day”. Watch the commercial below.
Feb. 28 - "Immortal" Released
With the hype for Kid Cudi’s 4th studio album building, Cudi would release “Immortal” the second official single from INDICUD. Listen to the song below.
Mar. 3 - Appears On The Cleveland Show
Kid Cudi voiced the character “Devon” in an episode of The Cleveland Show earlier this year. Watch a clip from the show below.
Mar. 4 - First Artist Collaborator for
New Era Accessory Line
New Era detailed plans in March for a new line of accessories but as of right now nothing has been released. Kid Cudi is set to be the first of a series of different artists to work with New Era on their upcoming accessories which will likely now be released in 2014.
Mar. 26 - Performs on Jimmy Kimmel Live
Kid Cudi took the stage in Hollywood in late March to perform a 5 song set for Jimmy Kimmel Live. Aside from the expected performances of Immortal and Just What I am, Cudi’s daughter Vada was the first to come out as the crowd sang “Happy Birthday” to her. Cudi then debuted the new song “Mad Solar” from INDICUD as an acappella. Watch the performance below.
Apr. 2 - Leaves G.O.O.D. Music
With the release of INDICUD just weeks away, Kid Cudi dropped some big news during an interview with Power 106 LA saying he was no longer on G.O.O.D. Music. Cudi would explain that there is “no beef, everything is good” and that he just wanted to go in a new direction to focus on his label Wicked Awesome Records. Watch the clip of his announcement below.
Apr. 16 - INDICUD Released Early
With the album leaking 2 weeks in advance, Kid Cudi and his label decide it was time act by moving up the albums release date. INDICUD was released on April 16, a full week earlier than its original April 23 date. Cudi would go on to sell 139,242 copies of INDICUD and debut at #2 on the Billboard 200 charts.
Jun. 15 - World Premiere for "Goodbye World"
After filming three films in 2012, Kid Cudi’s first movie released would turn out to be “Goodbye World”. On June 15 the world premiere for “Goodbye World” took place at the LA Film Festival with Kid Cudi, Adrian Grenier, Ben McKenzie and more of the cast and crew in attendance. Jun. 18 - Featured on Kanye West's "Guilt Trip"
Not being on G.O.O.D. Music wouldn’t stop Cudi from make yet another appearance on a Kanye West album. The new song titled “Guilt Trip” see’s Cudi sing a brief but soulful interlude “If you love me so much, then why’d you let me go?”. Listen to the song below.
Jun. 24 - Participates in Beck's Artist Series
Kid Cudi added yet another project to his expending repertoire, this time in the form of a beer bottle label for Beck’s. The 2013 series of Beck’s Artist Labels project featured Kid Cudi as one of the six artists chosen to participate. The six designs appeared on more than 13 million bottles this Summer.
Jul. 1- "Going To The Ceremony" Released
Kid Cudi would drop a new song out of the blue this Summer with “Going to The Ceremony”. Another WZRD-esque jam for everyone to enjoy.
Jul. 15 - Cud Life Tour 2013 Announced
Kid Cudi would head back on tour in the fall of 2013 for the first time in over 2 years and he brought a handful of guests with him as special guests Big Sean, Tyler The Creator and Logic would join Cudi on the 25 city tour.
Jul. 22 - Featured in FLAUNT MAgazine
Kid Cudi would make one more appearance in a magazine before the year was over with his feature in the new issue of FLAUNT Magazine. Cudi sat down with them for an interview to discuss his career including both music and film. Check ou tthe full photo gallery here
Aug. 19 - Man on The Moon 3 Release
Kid Cudi took to twitter late in August to announce a tentative release date for what is going be a highly anticipated album in “Man on the Moon 3″. The disappointing part of the news would be that the album wouldn’t be released until sometime in the year 2015. Bummer.
Aug. 26 - Featured on Big Sean's "First Chain"
The anticipation for “First Chain” had been building for months and finally in August Big Sean would release his new album “Hall of Fame” which featured the track. Kid Cudi and Nas joined Big Sean on the new song as Cudi contributes to the hook, outro and with a new verse. Listen below.
Sept. 4 - Featured on King Chip's "Vortex"
King Chip’s newest mixtape 44108 was released in September and it would boast a feature from Kid Cudi and Pusha T on the new song “Vortex”. The WZRD produced track was expected to appear on either Pusha T’s or Kid Cudi’s solo albums this year but ultimately made it’s way to Chip’s new mixtape.
Sept. 5 - Cud Life Tour Suit and Stage Premiered
Kid Cudi kicked off the Cud Life Tour 2013 in Tucson, Arizona on September 5th by debuting a brand new stage and outfit. Kid Cudi turned to Hollywood to take his live performance up another level as he commissioned a custom-designed suit from the designer behind suits for After Earth, X-Men, Spiderman, and Tron. Oct. 17 - New EP Announced
Kid Cudi made a big announcement during the Dallas stop of the Cud Life Tour saying that he will be releasing a new EP as a prelude to the 2015 release of Man on the Moon 3. Speaking on the release date, Cudi said we will only be given 24 hour notice of the EP’s release. Later in the year he would announced the name of the EP as “KiD CuDi presents SATELLITE FLIGHT: The journey to Mother Moon”. Watch the announcement video below.
Nov. 8 - Guest Stars on Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Kid Cudi guest starred on an episode of Brooklyn Nine-Nine as he played the role of criminal mastermind named Dustin Whitman. Detective Peralta (Samberg) and his colleagues spend a weekend trying to prove Whitman’s involvement in a jewelry store robbery. Watch the full episode below.
Nov. 18 - "Need For Speed" Trailer Released
With “Need For Speed” set for a March 14, 2014 release date the first full length trailer was made public in mid November. Watch Kid Cudi and Aaron Paul in action in the new trailer below.
Dec. 16 - "Satellite Flight" Released
Kid Cudi would return with brand new music before the end of the year with this new song from his forthcoming EP “KiD CuDi Presents – Satellite Flight: The Journey to Mother Moon”. Listen and download the new Cudi song below titled “Satellite Flight”.
