Atheism V. Christianity
« on: June 22, 2011, 09:11:58 AM »
Big Bang Theory/Darwinism or Intelligent Design by an all powerful God?  What is your opinion?  Say what you think, why you think it and try to support it with fact.  Try not to get all pissed off and angry at someone that says something you don't agree with.  Seriously, lets keep this civil, tempers in check, and not say absolutely preposterous statements.

Free Documentaries about the topic.  They each make valid points (some I think are BS and others are pretty good), but obviously skew the lines to benefit their side of the argument.

Both are one sided, obviously.

So I am a Christian and believe in God, His son Jesus, and the Holy Ghost are all separate but 3 in 1.  And if you say, "Bullshit, there is no such possible thing as the same person in three different forms.  YOU LIAR!"  My response to that is:  Water, ice, and water vapor.  All are three different forms of the same element.  I believe that God sent His son to earth to die for EVERYONES' sins.  I don't deny that evolution is possiblie.  I know evolution happens, however, I do not believe that cells turn into sponges, sponges turn into fish, fish turn into reptiles, and reptiles turn into birds.  Fish with gills to breathe underwater do not just develop lungs to breathe air...  If that were true, and I know that it takes hundreds of years to complete one process, but if that were true we would constantly still be seeing cases of animals evolving into superior species.  Evolution does not claim that changes in animals happen randomly or in waves, but continuously. Rather, I believe that animals that have particular qualities/adaptions to a changing environment survive and thrive.  Also, Scientist/Atheist have speculation about the, "Big Bang."  They assume that they know the conditions 1/1,000,000,000 of a second after the big bang but they do not know what caused it or what it was like before to create the big bang.  Also, I have a really hard time believing that an explosion, and correct me if I am wrong here, WILL DO ANYTHING BUT DESTRUCT, not create everything we know today.

Just a starter.  Thought I'd break the ice.

It is bullshit though...  This time last year, there would be at least 2 pages of comments by now, if not more.

So agnostic, atheist, or what?  I'm not here to criticize or, "convert," you.  I know how all that goes and how it should be done.  Just wondering why you have come to this conclusion?  Whether you just never really did, or you were at one point but then you had some epiphany of sorts.  Care to explain and back-up?

I am a Roman Catholic. I believe in almost all the bases of the faith, I believe God put everything here. I'm on the fence about evolution, wouldn't be surprised if it was true, but certainly wouldn't be surprised if it didnt. I question alot of things about the Catholic faith but their normally things that are only found in the Catholic faith and not other branches of Christianity. 100% believe Jesus suffered, died, and rose again.

It really annoys me that there are so many different sects of the Christian church all because twisted people lied, abused, and etc. about what it said and such.  Now there are so many different churches fighting against each other.  And there are always those, e.g. Westboro Baptist Church, that really screw the pooch and make all Christians look like jackasses.  I am technically Presbyterian, but I consider myself non-denominational in the sense that I believe God sent his one and only son to die for anyone who accepts him as their Lord and Savior.  And the whole Catholic, "the wine actually turns into blood and bread into his flesh" sounds like a farce that I don't believe.  Did the 12 disciples actually eat his body and drink his blood? No. They drank wine and ate bread...
