all you people stop arguing, and im gonna put this in all caps so everyone reads it I BET ALL OF YOU CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS OR ARE GETTIN GIFTS FROM IT. IF YOU REALLY DONT BELIEVE IN GOD AND ARE NOT RELIGIOUS THEN YOU WOULD NOT EVEN DECORATE FOR THE HOLIDAY SEASON.

First of all the point if the thread is to argue about your point of view.Yes, some people like to take it a little too far and call each other stupid for something they believe about, but what ever. Second, you can celebrate Christmas as a holiday that is about family, having a christian belief isn't something that is required now days. It's a more accepted holiday that revolves around family.

I was catholic, Im not anymore, but I still celebrate chrismas for the tradition, in a familial way, and I still respect Jesus's lessons, so I considers myself as a christian, I just don't believe in the old Testament, I see it as a collection of myths and legends, and a lot of people don't believe in it too, even if they are christians : If you tell to a priest that you saw a talking snake or an angel, he will think that your crazy...  (but I still respect all the religions  :D )

You can't not believe in the old testament at all and be a christian. I understand if you don't believe some of the stories that seem farfetched such as Genesis, but in order to believe and worship Jesus you have to believe most of the stuff in there, such as the works of the prophets and the stuff closer to Christ such as the kingdom of David and so on. Just my opinion.

I disagree but only to say that you could still be a christian just not follow any organized group of christianity since they all believe in it.  To be a christian you just have to believe in jesus (christ hence christian).  Then again how could you not believe in the old testament but believe in the new.  They have both been rewritten, copied, and abridged the same amount of times.

This should give a decent idea compared to other writings/teachings:
http://carm.org/christianity/bible/hasnt-bible-been-rewritten-so-many-times-we-cant-trust-it-anymore

It's not in great detail just an example. It is actually lacking some detail that it should include, but I'm not here to argue or debate just somewhat educate.

Completely agree with this. I'm Christian, but I can say that the only thing I am not 100% sure that I believe is HISTORY in the bible is the first few chapters of Genesis (creation, etc) I'm not saying that they're fake, but I am unsure if I believe in this or the theory of Evolution. Even if the story of Adam and Eve is a myth (again, not saying that it is) I completely understand why it would have been included in the bible.

I agree, religion is nothing but corrupt human beings trying to gain person wealth off of others. I don't believe I cling to a religion, but I do think atheism in itself can be characterized as a religion.

Don't look at the bible literally, think of it more as a lesson.
The stuff I know, I could go on for aages as my family is really catholic, like 2 months ago my mum asked god for help and she said she saw a gold light etc. And when I heard and asked about it she broke down etc. Like I believe 100% she confronted god and i knowmany other relatives that have. Believe what you want but if you hear what I hear and experienced what I have, you would be catholic yourself, its kinda scary what ive heard and seen.
Just stay open minded or something.

Catholicism is a corrupt religion just like all the others.
